I've been sharing some tips around income generating activities offline, particularly activities that you can be engaging in. Now let's chat about some of the small business marketing online and the strategies for income generating activities.
Small Business Marketing Online
It's really important that these activities are going to be leading to getting new clients for your business, right?
Let's remember what we're doing here. This isn't just 'hoping and praying' or throwing spaghetti against a brick wall, hoping it will stick. And stop trying everything! It is exactly what many people do end up doing in business. It costs them a lot of time, a lot of money, and a lot of wasted effort as well. Usually, with not much to show for!
But let me first and foremost give you some ideas of what online income generating activities would look like.
Income Generating Activities Online
- Firstly, it is social media.
You may find that you're really getting some engagement through blogging, posting articles on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, or other platforms you may be using for your business. And those are leading to clients inquiring about your services or reaching out to you. It would make sense that you'd start to do more of those things, using social media.
2. Secondly, it could be you hosting a webinar or a Zoom call.
Sometimes people call them Zoom parties or MasterClasses. They have lots of different names that we're using nowadays, but essentially you're looking at some form of an online class or education, using a tool like GoToWebinar or Zoom. You can reach a lot of people at once, share your expertise in how you can help them, and at the end, make an offer.
Online Activities to Set Up for Promotions
Some of the activities that you would need to do in order for these things to work are:
- Setting up a landing page or a webinar funnel
- Crafting your email campaigns
- Creating your promotional art or images
- Creating promotional pieces for your affiliates or partners (if they are helping to promote)
- Promoting your webinar
- Choosing a platform to deliver the class on
It's not just enough to show up and deliver a webinar. That is usually the easy part.
You have to work out how you're going to get people to the webinar!
Getting People to the Webinar or Masterclass
- You might be using some paid advertising.
- You could be working with a strategic partner who's also going to promote your webinar.
We've got several of our clients who are working with strategic partners around webinars. Essentially, they show up and they deliver their expertise. Their strategic partner loves what they have to share with their audience. They do all of the promotion and they fill the seats on those webinars for our clients.
Our clients have been getting amazing results through that strategy alone.
You have to think about what's right for your business.
I've just shared a couple of high-level tips there and some examples of what online strategies may look like.
The caveat to the Online Marketing Strategies
All of these strategies work.
They're all going to work for different people, in different industries, at different levels of business. But they're not all going to work at the same time.
