How to structure and plan your week?
This question comes up a lot in our community. How to structure and plan your week so you get that sense of accomplishment?
So many of us have a massive 'to-do' list. We feel reactive in our day-to-day business and we often do not find the time for growing our business.
How to Structure and Plan Your Week
Here are some tips that helped me create a structure in my business and to plan my week.
1. Start looking at where your energy is best.
Is your energy best and highest at the beginning of the week? The beginning of the day or middle of the day? Or possibly, at the end of the day.
Typically, most people’s energy is at their best at the beginning of the week, and the beginning of the day. This is the chance that we have before everything else hits the fan.
2. Where are the best places to dedicate to growing our business?
These are the activities that grow our business. Following up with clients, sales conversations, and marketing activities. If you are preparing a talk, writing out new campaigns, social media posts etc. These are all business development activities and they should be proactive.
They should be scheduled on your calendar.
It is a lot easier for me to do that to block a significant chunk of time in my calendar and just get it done. It also creates the flow. I have my marketing day on Mondays and I have 4 hours booked each week.
What Else Should Go On Your Calendar?
The next thing you book time for is what energizes you throughout the week. The reality of growing a business is that it requires a lot of focused energy.
I plan things into my calendar that give me energy. I love to do yoga, walk my dogs and play tennis with my friends. I schedule these activities into my calendar. If I don’t, they never happen.
3. Block a sprint.
Sprints are blocked 30-60 min times used to advance your business. These are focused times to knock off 5-10 items off your list. Schedule only 1 or 2 of these a week.
We get busy all week and sometimes we do not get things done or checked off our list. These sprint sessions accomplish that.
These 3 things are important to schedule into your calendar on the regular basis as otherwise they do not get done and your business will not grow as fast as it could.
