Building an Effective Team - Your Rockstar Team

One of the really key accelerators in growing your business is going to be building an effective team - your rockstar team.

You have to do that, otherwise, you're going to be always stuck doing everything yourself. Wearing multiple hats and ultimately, you run the risk of burning out.

Concerns About Building a Team

Many people have real concerns about growing a team.

Who do you choose? What should they be working on?  You may start feeling overly responsible for them. Or, you may be constantly chasing your team members and losing a lot of time and energy.

I get it. Those can be really valid concerns if you are hiring or working with the wrong people.

My Tip About Building An Effective Team

I want to give you a tip here about hiring and working with your rockstar team. That's really how we've built our team. Team of rockstars that have amazing strengths, share our vision and help proactively grow the business.

Here's my number one tip:

1. Your team must share your vision.

They've got to buy into the vision of success that you've got for your business. Those much bigger goals that you want to achieve so that they know that they're contributing to something way beyond the tasks and the role they're going to be performing. When they buy into your vision, they're going to be bringing their own creativity, their own insights and their ideas to the table.

An Example of An Effective Team

I had an example of that recently with one of my own team members. We were talking about some new initiatives that I really wanted to be rolling out this year in our business. We were raising up the bar for ourselves and for our clients. One of my team members immediately took that, went away in the background to reflect on it and came back with an idea of how we could roll this out. I thought her ideas were amazing. And that's really what you want your rockstar team members doing. They're going to do some of that heavy lifting to help you fulfill your vision.

What You Need to Attract an Effective Team

First and foremost, you have to get really clear on your own vision. Communicate it to the members you want to hire as part of your rockstar team.

Do they buy into it?

Honestly, if they're not excited about the growth of your business, and your vision, they are not going to be the right fit for you.
